Wisdom Tooth Pain

Wisdom Teeth at Emergency Dental CareFor most people, Wisdom teeth are their final molars and arrive between the age of 16 and 25. Not everyone will have wisdom teeth, but of those who do many will need to have them removed.

Why remove my wisdom teeth?

  • Misaligned wisdom teeth can crowd other teeth, push other teeth out of place or even damage adjacent teeth and mouth tissue.
  • Wisdom teeth can also be difficult to clean, which can lead to decay and gum disease.
  • Some wisdom teeth are unable to break through the gum, which creates pain for the individual and may lead to swelling and infection.

Is it an emergency?

Wisdom teeth are not usually an emergency; however, sometimes they cause infection as they try to break the gum, or arrive under other teeth. This can be extremely painful and require immediate attention.
